Resin Selection Guide

Resin Types & Specifications


Standard Resin 

The standard 3D printing resin balances cost with reliable performance, making it an excellent baseline material.

  • Specs: Excellent fine-feature resolution, smooth surface finish, rigid but brittle.  

Best Used For: Rapid prototyping, detailed display figurines, and aesthetic concept models.


Tough Resin (ABS-Like) 

Tough resin mimics the mechanical performance of injection-molded ABS thermoplastic.

  • Specs: High tensile strength, high stiffness, and great resistance to cyclic deformation.  

Best Used For: Functional prototypes, snap-fit assemblies, and enclosures subjected to mechanical stress.  

Limitations: Not ideal for parts with thin walls under 1 mm.


Durable Resin (PP-Like) 

Durable resin behaves similarly to polypropylene (PP) plastic.

  • Specs: High impact resistance, high elongation, and exceptional wear resistance.  

Best Used For: Low-friction moving components, living hinges, and consumer packaging prototypes.


Flexible & Elastic Resin  

This flexible resin replicates the physical properties of rubber or silicone.

  • Specs: Low hardness (simulates an 80A durometer), high elongation at break, and shock-absorbing properties.  

Best Used For: Custom gaskets, seals, vibration dampeners, soft-touch grips, and wearable devices.


High-Temperature Resin  

Engineered to maintain its shape and structural integrity under heavy thermal loads, high-temperature resin is designed for demanding applications.

  • Specs: High heat deflection temperature (HDT), high stiffness, but low impact resistance.  

Best Used For: Injection mold tooling, hot air or fluid piping components, and environmental testing fixtures.


Specialty Resins  

Clear Resin 

  • Specs: Transparent, colorless formulation that can be sanded and polished for optical clarity.  

Best Used For: Lenses, fluidics housings, light pipes, and artistic models requiring light transmission.


Dental & Biocompatible Resin 

  • Specs: High precision, wear resistance, and certified for temporary or permanent contact with human tissue.  

Best Used For: Surgical guides, orthodontic models, clear aligners, and customized medical devices.


Castable Resin  

  • Specs: Formulated to burn out completely during investment casting without leaving behind ash or residue.  

Best Used For: Intricate jewelry production, dental crowns, and complex metal casting patterns.
